Dendrobium, Banana Royal
Dendrobium, Banana Royal
Don't let the elegant blooms fool you—Banana Royal is one tough orchid. Producing stunning sprays of soft yellow and white flowers, this variety is as hardy as it is beautiful, making it a ripper choice for both first-time growers and seasoned orchid collectors.
Here at Outback Orchids Australia, we grow our orchids a little differently. Rather than raising them in a cushy nursery, they're grown under 50% shade cloth in the full Far North Queensland sun. They experience fresh air, heat, wind and the changing seasons, producing hardy plants that are ready for life beyond the nursery.

Care Tips
- Light: Thrives in bright light. In harsh tropical climates like Far North Queensland, up to 50% shade is ideal. In cooler or less intense parts of Australia, it can happily handle full sun.
- Water: Water well during active growth, allowing the potting mix to drain freely before watering again. Reduce watering slightly through the cooler months.
- Feed: Apply a quality orchid fertiliser (try our foliar feeders) regularly through spring and summer for strong growth and abundant blooms.
- Airflow: Plenty of fresh airflow helps keep your orchid healthy.
- Temperature: Loves warm conditions and should be protected from frost.
- Repotting: Repot every 2–3 years, or when the potting mix begins to break down.
Our Growing Philosophy
At Outback Orchids Australia, we don't grow orchids to look good on a nursery bench—we grow them to thrive in your home. Every plant is grown under shade cloth in the full Far North Queensland sun, building strength and resilience from day one. We believe orchids should be grown for the conditions they'll actually face, not wrapped in cotton wool. The result is a tougher, more resilient plant that's ready to flourish in the real world.
Photographed orchids are an example of the batch available. Flowers may or may not be present on arrival.

Plant Biosecurity Certification
Plant Biosecurity Certification
Interstate deliveries (except NSW) need to be chemically treated and inspected by a QLD biosecurity officer at the time of postage. This can cause a delay in delivery of up to three months.
The next Biosecurity treatment and delivery dispatch for orders going to the NT, VIC, TAS, SA, and WA will be: November/December - last one until April 2026.
Please do not delay your purchase as higher order numbers can bring the inspection date sooner, and stock runs out.
