Hi, I’m Kaila Kingsley, an Agronomist and Founder of Outback Orchids Australia and my husband Luke Kingsley, a well known and respected Helicopter Mustering Pilot, own the only Sustainable Harvest License for legally gathering and selling the magnificent Australian Native Black Orchid from the wild. Our Sustainable Harvest License is exclusive, meaning that no one else owns this license. Indeed this is a world first and a fact we are very proud of!
We are Australians that love our country and live and breathe the Australian Outback life on a large cattle property in far North Queensland. In 2017 I left my Agronomy Career to be with my husband on his cattle station with the idea of starting my own consulting business. However, after witnessing the sheer, raw, absolute beauty of the incredible Black Orchids in their natural state, and understanding just how resilient they are, I realised that I needed to find a way to share them with the rest of the world. Outback Orchids was born!
A typical day for us includes mustering cattle on horseback, motorbikes and helicopters, operating machinery, fixing fences, fighting fires and now, of course, sustainably harvesting the impressive Australian Native Black Orchid in-situ of its tree hosts timber and showcasing them for your enjoyment!
